The power of a letter

Let me start by explaining that in second grade you switch classrooms for math and science, each teacher has a speciality and they teach that subject to the other classes also. Well when you switch someone else sits in your homeroom desk and that person is called your desk partner.
Tayson has been having issues with his desk partner all year long and has told his teacher about it a few times. She admits that she just kind of blew him off and told him she would get to it soon. Well one day after school he came home and sat down to write his teacher a letter. I left to exercise and took him with me and he worked the whole hour very intently on his letter (I had no idea what he was writing about). When he was done he read it to me. I was very impressed and a little alarmed at the same time realizing that my child just might have a little OCD. The letter was very cute and I thought it would be fun to share. I scanned it but rewrote it underneath since it is a little hard to read.

Dear Mrs. Smith

My desk partner Isabel is getting on my nerves and I don't want her to be my desk partner cause I have my desk all clean and when she gets done with it it is a huge mess and I have to take almost the whole class or lunch time to fix it, and this is what she does, she makes all my books slanted and she throws all my pencils in my desk and she pulls stuff off of my school stuff and she puts my crayons in the middle and that's not where they are supposed to be, and lastly she wrights on my desk and this is what it would look like if she did all of it...

So I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want Isabel to be my desk partner. Please.
Love Tayson

It was pretty hard not to laugh when I read his letter and saw how serious he was about this problem. I was thinking, why arent you this meticulous with the things at our house. The getting on my nerves part is so funny because he sounds just like me!
In the end it worked wonders for him. He gave this letter to his teacher the next morning and she took care of it. He does not have a desk partner now since a few kids didn't have one they just switched his someone else.
I talked to his teacher that day and she was impressed that he had written the letter, and she explained that they have been working on writing letters when they want something to change . Good job Tayson! (my cute little OCD kiddo)
