It has been a long time since I last blogged, and Tammi said that it is well past my turn to let everyone know about our lives. While she has covered some of the day to day things that are keeping us busy, I wanted to let everyone know about some of the music we listen to.
I have been spending time going through Rhapsody (www.rhapsody.com) looking for some good uplifting music to listen to, as I am getting tired of todays low moral music that artists are spewing out across the radio waves.
Through my musical wanderings searching for something more uplifting I listened to many Christian bands who have started singing/playing in their congregations, and have found the fame that signing with a record label brings. I have been disappointed that many of the bands that call themselves Christian bands are not singing about Christian subjects after they get their record deal, or even mention anything about anything religious in their songs. It seems that just like the music artists of today that have the attention of many listeners, their priority is to sell records, and not to promote the religion that got them started.
Thats where Casting Crowns (www.castingcrowns.com) is different. The lead signer Mark Hall has been serving as a youth minister in a baptist church near Altanta What makes this interesting is that it seems that his services in his church is his first priority eventhough Casting Crowns was the No.1 selling artist of 2007 on Billboard's Christian/Gospel year-end chart and headlined the top-grossing Christian music tour of the '07/'08 season
All of their songs are uplifting and about religious message, but I will list my favorite 3 here...
Slow Fade
The lyrics of this song is about the spreading cancer of moral failure in the fathers of this generation. Its moral is that fathers must guard their hearts and understand the no one crashes and burns. They just slowly fade away one little compromise at a time. The music video is very good you can watch it here
East To West
This is a very touching song if when you listen to it you picture someone who has come from a troubled background pleading in prayer at their bedside for forgiveness and trying to suppress their guilt of their past, and the fear that they can not change their life. Watch it here
Does anybody hear her
Its very sad, but this probably happens more than we would like to admit, that someone gets off on a wrong start in life and then they start searching and yearning for the peace and hope that religion can bring, but the judgments and lofty glances from those underneath the steeple keep them from changing their lives.
Watch it...

Well, the Shepherds really hit home with me. My two favorite subjects....food and music. A nice blog, Brandon. I'm always looking for good music. But I'm stuck on the 50's so that's pretty much what I listen to. But the Tab Choir is also my favorite. Nothing quite as uplifting. Anyway.....thanks!
