Thanksfuls November 2008

First of all I love this time of year. I love when the weather starts getting chilly and I can pull out the sweaters and clothing that have been put away since the spring. I love to make a big pot of soup and have it last a few days. I love to come home from work and put on my cozy slippers and favorite sweatshirt and just be home.

This weekend was an emotionally tender weekend for me. While I was on the phone with my mom on Friday night, their dog Dexter passed away. They are not sure what the cause he just let out a yelp from the other room and then he was gone within minutes. They think maybe a heart attack or stroke. This is especially hard on my dad since Dexter is his little buddy. They were good friends and he spent alot of time laying on dad's lap getting rubbed and hopping around excitedly every time dad would come home or even enter the room. It is amazing what an important part of the family pets can become. He was a fun little dog and will be missed greatly by the whole family.

Then early Saturday morning we got the phone call that our good friends (the family that went to Yellowstone with us) the Lewis's son had passed away. He is 24 and has been fighting a rare form of cancer since December. It has been a long hard road of many ups and downs for their family. I know he is in a better place and his pain is finally gone but it is still such a hard thing to deal with. Lora and Doug and the kids are such a strong family that I look up to so much. I am so thankful to know them and to be able to be their for them in their time of need. I just pray that as time goes on it will get easier and they will heal from all they have been through. I know that Heavenly Father is watching over them, comforting them, and helping them get through this.

On a happier note - Jordan had once again outgrown his church pants so it was time to take him shopping ( not his favorite thing to do). He has been wanting a suit for a while now and since we think he is starting to reach his the end of his growing we decided it was time to get him one. He looks so good and even commented that all he needed was name tag and he could be a missionary (the words all mom's love to hear!) We snapped few pics of him before they left for the stake conference priesthood meeting. I even got to have my picture taken with such a handsome young man.

$2.39 a gallon for gas this morning! I can't remember the last time I filled up and it only cost me $40. I am not sure why prices are going down, but I am very thankful that gas prices have dropped to a reasonable amount.

Today is my 10th day without drinking Pepsi. Yahoo! I am surviving although I thought I never could. I guess I just needed a sign to tell me it was time to stop and I got it. I have noticed for the past while that every time I would drink pepsi my stomach would hurt. It got worse each time so I finally decided enough was enough and I stopped drinking pop! Now if only it will help me to shed some pounds too. I haven't missed it nearly as much as I thought I would and my stomach no longer hurts. I guess my Heavenly Father knew he would have to do something drastic to make me quit or I never would.
