Broken foot

Since I am on a posting roll I figured I better post about Brittins foot. Over memorial weekend she was at a friends party. I went to pick her up at midnight since it was a Saturday night sleepover. As she was walking on the sidewalk to the van she tripped a fell to her knee. She slowly walked the rest of the way to the van and when she opened the door she was in tears. She said "I tripped and heard a big pop and my foot hurts bad". I drove her home thinking she must have sprained her ankle and helped her into the house where we could check it out in the light. I knew right away that something was not right, there was a bump poking out on the side of her foot that shouldn't have been. So I loaded her back up and off to the ER we went. We were at the ER til 3am waiting for the X-rays. They came back showing a break in her bone right in the middle of her foot between her heel and her pinkie toe. So here she is with her beautiful bright green cast which she gets to wear for 6 weeks.

The doctors at the ER teased her that she needs to come up with a better story about how this happened. I say that she is pretty talented, not everyone can break their foot just walking on a sidewalk.

She will get to wear this cast through quite a few things coming up...including 8th grade graduation and girls camp. She is happy to not have to do the hike at girls camp though, and she does get to ride the elevator at school. She also gets the honor of being the first child in our family to break a bone.
